Now as you may or may not know, I teach Video Game Art and Design to students. Occasionally, I get a student who says that "Art is Subjective!"
And my response to that is that Yes, Art is Subjective, But Design is not. In this profession that you are striving for you need to be able to communicate your ideas effectively. If you cannot do that, then you have failed at your job. It doesn't matter if your trying to paint a scene and your audience doesn't understand the message then you are not doing your job.
